Abstract:
In this 5 credit workshop, attendees will learn about accessibility adaptations for the guitar within clinical treatment (2D -8) as well as ways for adapting musicianship in general (3A-10). Additionally, attendees will have an opportunity to learn new skills and develop proficiency relating to guitar (3A-9). The CMTE will be divided into 3 sections with breaks between. In the first section (about an hour and 20 minutes). We will cover alternative tunings and practice changing the tunings of guitars for a variety of needs and purposes. After an extended lunch break, we’ll get into slide playing for both seated and standing postures and learn a couple of songs that utilize the slide. After a shorter break (20 minutes), the last section will cover digital MIDI, and electric guitar applications for accessibility needs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own guitars and slides.
