In her new book, "Leadership and Management in Music Therapy: Music Therapists in the Natural Role of Administration" Chesley Mercado strives to take the anxiety and mystery out of leadership, supervision and yes even being a manager. Throughout the book are correlations between the clinical practice of music therapy and the client and administration where the department or agency acts as the client. The same leadership skills are used, the same treatment plan or strategic plan is designed, and assessments and evaluations are completed. Each chapter has hands-on activities to practice skills and a final project of designing a creative arts therapy program. Some of the activities are contributed by students and graduates of the GCSU Master of Music Therapy program.
