Dear Past and Present MTAG Members,

I hope that this email finds you all well and getting back into the swing of things as school starts! On behalf of the executive committee I would like to thank you for an amazing 2010-2011 membership year and I invite you to renew your memberships for the 2011-2012 year, which started July 1, 2011. We have had an great year! Our state task force has been hard at work fostering relationships with your legislators, we had a great CMTE with Judy Simpson and Dena Register, we were able to award an awesome scholarship to a worthy recipient, launched our new website, and lat but not least we launched our new facebook page (go "LIKE" us!).

As fall approaches, all of us on the executive committee have been hard at work planning the 2011 "AMTA in the ATL" National Conference. In addition, MTAG is proud to be sponsoring a Recognition Breakfast at conference this year to recognize and award those supporters of Music Therapy that never seem to get the credit we think they deserve! The breakfast will take place early Friday morning (November 18th). All award recipients will receive a certificate of recognition, as well as a keynote speech from our current AMTA President, Ronna Kaplan. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Do you have someone in your life that has been a supporter of music therapy? Maybe an administrator who has developed MT job opportunities, your boss who has helped you develop a music therapy program, a non-profit or facility coordinator who has made MT more accessible to the community, a legislator who has backed you from the start, a client or the parent of a client who has sang your praises and raised awareness of MT????? In the next week, please take the time to nominate this person for a recognition award!!!!

Once the guest list has been confirmed, those nominated will receive a formal invitation to the breakfast as well as an invitation to take part in concurrent sessions for the day. However, no one is required to stay for the day. They can feel free to go about their work day after breakfast! In addition, if the person you nominate is chosen for an award, we hope that YOU will attend the breakfast in honor of your nominee.
