Blog + updates
Hello and Happy Monday MTAG Members!
The MTAG Executive Board hopes that you had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying 2016 so far! Below you will find updates and events that we wanted to share! As always, continue to follow our Music Therapy Association of Georgia Facebook page and website for more updates and news! And if you have any questions, click the "Contact" tab on the right hand side of our webpage, and send us an email! We love hearing from you!
Recently added to our Events/Continuing Ed tab is information regarding a CMTE opportunity at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. The CMTE entitled, "Sensorimotor Music Therapy Treatment Approaches: Eurhythmics for Autism and other Neurophysiologic Diagnoses," presented by Dr. Dorita Berger will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Details and registration information can be found HERE on our website.
All music therapy professionals are required to renew their license every 2 years, even numbered years. Due to this, we will all be required to renew our license this year by March 31. Many of you have contacted us regarding the application process, saying that you were unable to find the appropriate documents for renewal. Those documents are not currently available, but we have been told that when they are available, we will receive an email from the SOS. In addition, there is more information forthcoming from our Advisory Committee that we plan to disseminate when we receive it. For now, please make sure that you are utilizing the CBMT website to log your CMTE hours, and that you have logged at least 40 hours of your 100 (total in 5 years) during this 2-year license cycle.
MTAG Internship Scholarship
Thank you to Paula James and the entire Internship Scholarship committee for sharing the application and guidelines for our scholarship. Universities in Georgia have been notified of this scholarship and have shared this with their students. The recipient of our scholarship will be announced at our state association meeting at regional conference. Dates and times for that meeting will be shared at a later date. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Music Therapy: Researching the Possibilities
March 31-April 2
Our upcoming regional conference will be held in Macon, Ga this year and we look forward to seeing you there! Because of its close proximity, we would love to see LOTS of Georgia music therapists attend! MTAG will be assisting the local committee in securing volunteers, door prizes, and entertainment. As time nears, we will be reaching out to professionals in our state for assistance in this area, so please stay tuned and consider how you might be willing to help! This year's conference will focus on research, and we already know there are going to be many wonderful opportunities for learning and networking! For more information about the conference schedule or to register, please visit the SER-AMTA Conference page. Early-bird registration ends February 21st. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity!
Referral Information and Music Therapists Needed
MTAG is very often getting email requests looking for music therapists in various parts of the state. Because of this, we are looking at streamlined ways for listing professionals on our website, or ways of knowing/recording what areas various professionals are working. In the next few weeks, as we work on this process, we may be reaching out to you and your staff regarding your location, and various areas that you might be willing to travel to. Until then, I will continue to post updates on our Facebook page or on our Blog when looking for music therapists in certain locations. See below for a few opportunities, and please contact me at email@example.com if you are interested in any of these listings.
