Have you renewed your AMTA membership this year?
Membership for the 2015 calendar year is now being accepted in the online store. Invest in your profession and invest in improving your practice of music therapy! The more music therapists who support AMTA's mission by becoming a member in 2015, the better we can address our mission, to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and increase access to quality music therapy services, and the better your membership becomes!
Go to www.musictherapy.org. Log in with your online account credentials and go to the online store. Then Shop for: "Membership" and click "Go." Select your desired type of membership, put it in your shopping cart and check out. It's that easy! Or, if you prefer, print out a 2015 Membership form and mail in your payment to AMTA, 8455 Colesville Rd., Ste. 1000, Silver Spring, MD, 20910.

Hello and Happy New Year! Welcome Home!
They say “Home is where the heart is …” And the passion for music therapy practice is alive and well here in our home state of Georgia! Professionals in our state are working in private practice, education, with clients dealing with substance abuse and addiction, in mental health facilities, and with patients on oncology units (to name just a few!) We have recently adopted a new licensure law to increase access to services and awareness of our growing profession. AND, the knowledge and training of professionals in our state continues to grow and expand as our colleagues present at conferences, in-services, and continuing education events.
As a member of MTAG, we want you to feel at home here in the state of Georgia! We want you to know your colleagues and be able to network with other professionals; we want to offer you in-depth, relevant, and current topics in continuing education; and we want to lead a state association that cares about you and your practice and provides the tools needed to be a successful music therapist in our state.
Just a few of the ways we plan to do that:
ü Provide relevant continuing music therapy education events and opportunities across the state at a reasonable price
ü Allow access to a multi-faceted website with up-to-date information about current events, government relations, and professional practice across the state
ü Serve as a liaison between professionals in the state of Georgia and the Advisory Committee to the Secretary of State’s Licensing Board
ü Create the opportunity for networking and friendly alliances with other professionals in music therapy and allied health professions, and
ü Introduce students and new professionals to a flourishing music therapy community in the state of Georgia
So welcome to MTAG, and invite some friends! We want to reach out to all of the professionals working in the state so that we can provide all of this and more. Make it your goal to reach out to one friend and recommend MTAG, so that they too can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
Let’s create a supportive, caring environment for our “family” here in Georgia, and let’s show everyone just how passionate we are about our home.
